Cape Cod (the cape with cod; in English: Cape Cod) is an arm-shaped peninsula located on the Easternmost part of Massachusetts. It is a tourist and vacation region featuring thousands upon thousands of beaches, natural attractions, historic locations, art galleries, and plenty of four star restaurants. Plenty of opportunities exist here for golfing, fishing and other outdoor activities. The city of Provincetown, even at the end of the peninsula, is the site of the first landing of pilgrims from England to America.
Understand
Cape Cod is truly a place of its own. Even the climate seems to have a distinct feel. In summer, the morning mist tastes like salt but disappears from the beaches on hot days. Cape Cod stretches from the main eastern coast of the United States, where temperatures tend to be warmer compared to other areas of New England. This is because it is located closer to the Gulf Stream, a warm current from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic provinces. Warmer temperatures provide a longer season for tourist activities like golfing or freshwater fishing on the other hand, coastal storms can be brutal, pounding the exposed peninsula with strong winds, waves. thunderous ocean and, in winter, two or three feet of snow in a Nor'easter. This is how Cape Cod was, and is, formed.
Likewise, the people of Cape Cod have been shaped by increasing waves of population. English settlers, Portuguese fishermen, beatniks and artists and retirees each formed a wave that broke above the Cape's population and made it stronger and more diverse. Every summer, the strongest wave washes over the cape and then ebbs: tourists. The wave brought almost triple the population. Seasonal businesses open and fill start in April. From the 4th of July weekend, the Cape Cod party is in full swing until September. Then the tide slowly clears as the fresh air comes in. The people of Cape Cod breathe a sigh of relief. The beautiful Cape Cod is theirs still, for the most part.
If you don't need swimming or sunning on the beaches, the shoulder seasons of late spring and early fall are an excellent time to visit. Each have their unique charms, lower prices and considerably more peace. The commercial and busy Cape Cod leads to its simple, relaxed and charming self-portrait. If you don't demand more than peace, seclusion, and quiet (perhaps for painting or writing), even a winter on Cape Cod might be what you need.

Health
- Deer ticks carrying Lyme disease are a real concern, especially in hot weather. Stay out of the dune grasses and brushy areas. If you get a rash and / or a ring-shaped flu-like ailment, seek medical treatment. Nantucket has the highest incidence of Lyme disease. * Mosquitoes have become a concern in this area as there have been cases of Eastern Equine Encephalitis. Use insect repellant if appropriate.
- Beware of Climbing Sumac (poison ivy, dogwood, poison ivy, or "poison ivy"), a growing vine (which can climb) with three shiny leaves. It can cause intense skin irritations when touched. It is widespread on Cape Cod and Islands.
- State law requires children under 13 to wear helmets while riding a bicycle.
