After the decline of the sugar industry, the northern tip of the island of Sain Lucia is, as the English say so beautifully, “prime residential development area” - in other words, the best building land for the rich who would like to have a villa there. Two plantations shared the land for sugar cane cultivation. The Cas En Bas plantation is located towards the Atlantic coast at the Anse Lavoutte bay. The approximately 600 hectare Cap Estate plantation was originally located on the western coast. One of the first hotels on the island, a Steigenberger, was built there decades ago.
Today you can find the only international golf course on the island in addition to a few exclusive hotels. There are plans for a housing estate. The golf course is to receive a new clubhouse, 7 tennis courts, a fitness center and a shopping arcade are also being built. Landmark Development is building several exclusive residential complexes at the same time. The Atlantic Beach Club has five floors of condominiums, a lounge, a pool, a tennis court, a wellness center and conference rooms. Cap Maison is an apartment complex with 10 buildings, a restaurant, bar, pools, fitness and wellness center. Mount du Cap will get 16 villa plots in the first construction phase. The Cap Estate Development Company wants to build on the entire northeast corner.

- Anse Lavoutte. The Anse Lavoutte is a wide, incised and partially protected by reefs bay on the Atlantic side with three sandy beach sections.
- Cas En Bas. Reef-protected, deeply indented bay with a gray sandy beach. Popular with windsurfers, locals like to go there on weekends, otherwise it is quite lonely there. There is a beach bar and tourist facilities are being planned.
- Donkey Beach. Undeveloped sandy beach south of Cas En Bas.
- Secret Beach, south of Cas En Bas. Secluded stretch of beach interspersed with volcanic rocks.
- Smuggler's Cove, on the protected island side between Le Sport Hotel and Club St. Lucia. A small bay with dark sand, framed by rocks, access via wooden stairs. There is a beach bar with irregular opening times, which is good for diving.

In the street
This holiday area is around 20 km from the capital, Castries, but only a few minutes' drive from Rodney Bay. Between Castries and Rodney Bay and Gros Islet, the road is partially four-lane and well paved. The streets are narrow in Cap Estate.
