Castroville is a city in the South Texas Plains. Castroville is known as the Little Alsace of Texas, because its founder brought in a large group of settlers from Alsace in the 1840s.

  • The Steinbach House, 100 Karm St., 1 830 538-3142. Come visit the Alsatian house originally built in Walbach, France in the 1600s. The house was relocated to Castroville in 1998. The Chamber of Commerce now operates here.

  • St. Louis Catholic Church, 610 Madrid, 1 830 931-2826. The third church to house the ever-growing St. Louis parish community, built between 1868 and 1870. Beautiful stain glass windows and original wood carved altar and statues.
