Cieszyn is a village of about 650 inhabitants, located in Greater Poland Voivodeshipin the southwestern part Ostrów County and in the southwest of the Sosno commune. It is located approximately 32 km southwest of the center Ostrów Wielkopolski and is situated by the district road A pine treeTwardogóra. The border runs near the village Lower Silesia Province.

Worth seeing

The village has been known since 1155 as the property of the Wrocław bishopric. From 1622 to World War II, Cieszyn was the property of the cathedral chapter in Wrocław.

  • The greatest monument is baroque church of St. Michael before 1697, with a square, four-story tower. Inside there are three baroque altars from around the mid-17th century and gothic sculptures: two on the sides of the main altar, attributed to the student Wit Stwosz relief St. John the Baptist in the wilderness from 1499 in the right side altar and Pensive Christ over the choir. It belongs to one of the most valuable monuments of religious architecture in the region.
  • It is also worth paying attention to two-story half-timbered manor, covered with a hipped roof, from the end of the 18th century, expanded at the end of the 19th century, distorted by renovations after 1945. Late baroque sculptures of St. Nepomuk and St. Florian from the 18th century.
