Cold weather is common throughout the year in the Arctic and Antarctic, as well as at high elevations and during winter in temperate zones. The cold climate is part of the daily life of the inhabitants of these areas, as well as the travelers who go in search of winter sports or to practice mountaineering, or who go whale watching, or to see the Northern Lights.
