Understand
County Wexford is located on the east coast of the Isle ofIreland in the province of Leinster. It is known as the camping capital of the country. It includes many sandy beaches and enjoys a warmer and sunnier climate than the North and West of Ireland. In fact, Ireland's longest beach is located here, stretching over 27 km.
The county is characterized by a few hills in the north with the Blackstaires mountains to the west bordering the County Carlow is comprising the highest peak in the county, Mount Leinster at an elevation of 793 m. The south of the county is generally flat.
The county also includes the Saltee Islands off the south coast which are an important bird sanctuary. The islands are private property, so they can only be observed from a distance by navigating around them.
