The westernmost corner of the Dutch part of the island, a narrow strip of land between Simpson Bay Lagoon, Mullet Bay and the open sea, ends in Cupecoy Bay near Lowlands. There the land rises only a few centimeters from the sea, the reason why parts of the area are called “Lowlands” - flat land.
The Atlantis Casino is currently one of the few attractions in the immediate vicinity. There you will find a shopping center and several restaurants.
At the same time, Cupecoy is the largest construction site on the island. Several investment companies are building there or planning major construction projects for the next three to four years. The company Tendal Real Estate recently completed “The Cliff”, a high-rise building with 12 floors. Right next to it, the Erato family built the Rainbow Beach Club. A multi-staggered building with five floors.
Behind the Ocean Club is a wide, very flat strip of land. It stretches across from Simpson Bay Lagoon to the sea. The Cupecoy Village is to be built there by the owners of the Atlantis casino.
Red Bay Enterprises is building on the next strip of land that extends to the border with the French part of the island.
The largest construction project extends from the La Samanna Hotel on the French side of the island to the lagoon. The fund and hotel company Orient Express is investing over 100 million US dollars there. A condominium hotel with 170 apartments and a marina with berths for 30 yachts are being built: Cupecoy Yacht Club. The main road is to be relocated for this construction project. IGY and Jeff Boyd are responsible for the construction of the marina.
beaches
- Cupecoy Beach. The narrow, fine, white sandy beach at the foot of the limestone cliff is partly used as a nudist beach in the northwest. The water is crystal clear, there are no changing facilities or showers. The beach was originally much wider, but was badly damaged by hurricanes Lenny and Luis. Sand is washed ashore again only very slowly. The Cliffhanger beach bar in the southeast is currently closed. On the other hand, deck chairs and umbrellas are rented out.

In the street
From the international airport, head west on Airport Road to Mahoe Bay and continue on the main road. Behind the golf course the district of Lowlands and Cupecoy begins.

For yachties there are two brand new marinas in the lagoon.
