While France plays host to the iconic Tour de France, the top cycling sports event in the world, the infrastructure for everyday cycling has been lacking for most of the 20th and early 21st century. However, cities, Paris chief among them, are increasingly expanding bicycle infrastructure, making cycling more comfortable, safer and faster.
