Dapto is located 20 minutes south of Wollongong in the coastal region of Illawarra of New South Wales, Australia, immediately to the south of Sydney. Originally a isolated town, it is now the centre a merge of housing developments that have been ongoing in the area for nearly 50 years. It has a reasonable shopping strip and a choice of places to eat.
Get in
To get to Dapto, catch a train from Sydney on the South Coast line, or take the Dapto exit off the M1 Princes Motorway just south of Wollongong.
Get around
You can walk 90% of the time around Dapto, as everything is in close range of everything else, however bus transport is also recommended as buses are reliable. There are also taxi's.

- Dapto is famed for the Dapto Dogs greyhound racing. The racecourse is a short distance from the station. The annual Dapto Show is held at the same location.
- Lake Illawarra is walkable from the station, or you can catch a bus. If you are coming by train for a walk or cycle by the lake, then Albion Park Rail or Oak Flats may be a better destination - where there are walking/cycle paths to the lake.
Do
Dapto Mall, Dapto Leagues Club and the Community Centre provide a variety of things to do.There is an annual Street Fair every September on Fathers Day. Following that is the Dapto Show.There are sometimes special shows like Monster Trucks etc during the year.Sunday mornings there are the 'flea markets' where one can find great bargains.

Dapto Mall's foodcourt has a Subway along with other eateries, and El Comida is a delicious Mexican Restaurant located on Baan Baan Street.
