Administratively the Red River Delta region is divided into the following provinces:
- Bắc Ninh
- Ha Nam

Urban centers
- Haiphong - Port of Hanoi, Haiphong, has retained the colonial air.
- Hanoi - Capital of Vietnam, Hanoi can be, thanks to its international airport, an alternative entry point a Ho Chi Minh Cityas well as a base for exploring the many wonders of northern Vietnam.
- Ninh Bình - Capital of the province homonymous in whose territory it is located Tam Coc (literally "The Three Caves"), an interesting destination from a landscape point of view. These are three natural caves on the Ngo Dong river which flows between high pinnacles of karst origin covered with vegetation. To see them you have to go to the village of Van Lam where rowboats are usually led by women who ferry tourists to the point of the three caves. Another interesting destination in the province is Hoa Lu, a historic city adorned with pagodas.
