Djoeba is the capital of Southern Sudan. The city had about 250,000 inhabitants in 2010.

Djoeba is located on the Nile, the river is usually called White-Nile or Mountain-Nile here. The Bari are the largest population group in the city and about half of the people are Catholic.

The Djoeba . International Airport is not yet directly accessible by plane from airports outside Africa, so a change is necessary.

By train

By car

Djoeba can be reached in one long day from Kampala. The road from Gulu (Uganda) to the border at Nimule (South Sudan) is unpaved and in poor condition. During and/or after rainfall, the road deteriorates further and may even be temporarily impassable. However, the road between Nimule and Djoeba is already partly smooth asphalt and they are busy asphalting the entire road.
