Dolomites - a mountain range in the north-eastern part Italian, part of the Southern Limestone Alps in the Eastern Alps. It is situated between the valleys of Val Rendena in the west, Piawa in the east and Pustertal (Val Pusteria) in the north. The highest peaks of the Dolomites are: Punta Penia (3342 m above sea level) and Punta Rocca (3309 m above sea level) in the Marmolada massif, Antelao (3263 m above sea level), Tofany. The geographical area to which the Dolomites belong is South Tyrol, the southern part of the massif is in the province of Belluno, the west - the province of Trentino, the north - the province of Bolzano-Alto Adige / Bozen-Südtirol. In 2009, the Dolomites were entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
