Domažlice(German: Taus) is a very attractive small town with around 11,000 inhabitants in Czech Republic. The city is located in the Pilsen region about 15 km north of the German border.

By plane

The nearest airports are Karlovy Vary (110 km), Prague (140 km away), Nuremberg (165 km) and Munich (180 km).

By train

Domažlice station is on the ALEX line Munich-Regensburg-Pilsen-Prague, which is served every two hours. The journey from Munich takes 3:15 hours, from Regensburg 1:45 hours, from Pilsen 50 minutes, from Prague 2½ hours. Regional trains (Os) from Klatovy (journey time just under an hour) and Tachov (approx. 2:15 hours) run five times a day.

Domažlice is 15 km from the border crossing Furth im Wald / Folmava, slightly off the Czech I / 26 (Pilsen – Furth i. W.), which is the continuation of the German B 20 from Cham / Straubing / Regensburg. From the east (Budweis, Strakonice, Klatovy) the I / 22 leads to Domažlice. For the 55 km from Pilsen you need around an hour, for the 100 km from Regensburg just under 1½ hours.

  • Medieval fortification with city tower - The slim tower can be climbed in the summer months. From up here you have a beautiful panoramic view of the city.

  • Visit of the Chod Festival in summer - folk festival with many music and dance performances e.g. B. by bagpipers and traditional costume groups. The festival goes to the Czech ethnic group Choden who traditionally settled in this area.
