Tourist Attractions
Elazığ has a relatively small historical background, which is also reflected in the unspectacular cityscape. It is more interesting to go straight to the neighboring Harput. Here are some attractions to be found:
- Fırat Üniversitesi. The Euphrates University.
- Harput Kalesi. Harput Castle.
- Ulu Camii. The mosque was built in 1156 AD by the Ortoqids under Sultan Fahrettin Karaaslan.
- Sarahatun Camii. This mosque dates from AD 1465 and was built by Sara Hatun. This was also the mother of Uzun Hasan.
- Kurşunlu Camii. This mosque dates from 1739 AD.
- Ağa Camii. This mosque was built in 1559 AD.
- Arap Baba Mescidi ve Türbesi. The tomb was erected by the Seljuks in 1279 AD.
