Estoril is a seaside resort in the municipality of Cascais in the Lisbon region to Portugal.
Understand
Strong of more than 25,000 inhabitants, it has been attached since 2010 to the municipality of Cascais. Its location less than 20 kilometers from the portuguese capital make it a popular destination for city dwellers who come here to recharge their batteries for a weekend, but also to many tourists from all over Europe. Formerly the ultimate social gathering - the city has hosted many crowned heads and the gratin of European nobility - Estoril boasts five fine sandy beaches lined with palm trees, a casino and a golf course.
Until 1996, Estoril hosted the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Portugal. The city remains attached to motor sports and still serves as the setting for the Rally of Portugal and the Moto GP of Portugal.
