Estremoz is a city in the region Alentejo.

Estremoz is located on the Serra de Ossa, the place was developed as a fortress against the Spaniards. The city is the administrative seat of the district of the same name. High-quality marble is mined in the area, and the simplest secular buildings are often made of this noble material.

Pelourinho, Pillory
The cityscape is dominated by the remains of the castle, the construction of which began in the 13th century. Much of the facility was destroyed in an explosion in 1698. The was preserved Tower of the Three Crowns, a former audience room, now a museum of modern design and a portico. The former royal palace is now an extremely stylish one Pousada.
