Worth seeing

  • collegiate church of Santa Maria Assunta - a three-nave Romanesque church, consecrated in 1148. In 1456 it was extended by Giuliano da Maiano with a transept and several side chapels. Inside, the frescoes of the Last Judgment Taddea di Bartola from 1393 and the Martyrdom of St. Sebastian Benozz Gozzola from 1465.
  • Palazzo del Podestà - a palace built in the years 1239-1337, located opposite the collegiate church. Inside, in the Dante Hall (Sala di Dante), there is a beautiful fresco by Maesta [1] painted in 1317 by Lippo Memmi. The tallest, 51 meters high tower in the city adjoins the palace.
  • Church of Sant'Agostino - built between 1280-1298, located at the northern end of the city. The interior is decorated with frescoes depicting scenes from the life of the patron saint of the church of St. Augustine.
  • Museo d'Arte Sacra - a museum of sacred art that also exhibits sculptures and paintings from the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. The Etruscan Museum of Etruscan Art is also located in the same building.
