background

In the southeast corner of the island, this small town with about 800 inhabitants is located at the junction to Half Moon Bay and Browns Bay. The Half Moon Bay Hotel golf course is located directly southeast of the village. Half Moon Bay Hotel was badly damaged in September 1995 by hurricane Luis. The new opening should take place in July 2000. After legal disputes, the government extended the deadline for reopening to November 2002. In July 2001, the bank then canceled all loans. In April 2005, the entire property was transferred to the state by court order. Further court decisions are still pending.
