Map of Andros
The much larger town is on the north bank of the mouth of Fresh Creek Coakley Town, on the other hand the small one Andros Town. Both places together are often referred to as Fresh Creek. The development of the area began in the early 1940s by the Swedish industrialist Axel Wenner-Gren, who bought a 55 km long stretch of coast and built the Andros Yacht Club, now known as the Lighthouse Club. Andros Town's wharf and loading facilities are no longer in operation today.
The AUTEC test station is located 2 km south of the village, access is strictly forbidden (see also article in the English Wikipedia).
