Friborg - city in Switzerland on the river Sarine, the capital of the canton of Friborg.
Friborg lies at the junction of two great ethnic and linguistic regions in Switzerland, bounded here by Sarine. Many of the towns on this river below Freiburg have double names: French on the left and German on the right.

Freiburg has a very well-preserved medieval Old Town, surrounded by the remains of the old city walls. There are a number of valuable examples of residential and religious architecture in the city, incl. gothic cathedral of st. Nicholas, built in 1283–1490, known for the stained glass of Józef Mehoffer.
