Fatima is a place of pilgrimage in the Centro region.

Fatima is about 130 km north of Lisbon. On May 13, 1917 three children had an apparition of the Virgin Mary while shepherding sheep, which they initially wanted to keep to themselves, but then one of the children betrayed himself. After a few more apparitions, on October 13, 1917, one had been announced days earlier Sun miracle. In 1930 the Catholic Church classified the apparition as credible and allowed the public worship of Fatima. To the Three secrets of Fátima Legends are still entwined today.
