Gásadalur is an island village Faroe Islands.

To know

Geographical notes

It overlooks the Mykinesfjørður fjord and is surrounded by the highest mountains on the island: Árnafjall (722 meters) to the north and Eysturtindur (715 meters) to the west. It was for a long time the only and last village in the archipelago that was not connected by road. Before the tunnel was built, it was only possible to go to Gásadalur by helicopter or on foot.

How to orient yourself

How to get

The road tunnel

By plane

Vagar airport.

By car

The village is connected to Bøur from a road tunnel (as of August 2008), which will be built in the Faroe Islands. Despite the tunnel, it is still difficult to get to Gásadalur.

By bus

The bus (line 300) normally goes to Sørvágur and only once a day (in the evening) a Bøur.

How to get around

The village itself is tiny, but there is considerable room for walking.

What see

Look out to sea for the closest mainland view of Mykines and for the tiny but extremely curvy island of Tindholmur.
