Gabrovo (Габрово, also written Gabrovo in German) is the capital of the district (Oblast) Gabrovo and lies on the Jantra River.

The Gabrovoers are also called the Scots of Bulgaria. There is a joke that the Gabrovoers cut off cats' tails so that they can close the doors faster so that the heated house does not get cold again. - Etara. Etara is a museum village. In 1964 the buildings of an old village and (rebirth) houses from the Gabrovo area were rebuilt. A stream flows along the village, which among other things drives a "washing machine". You can visit all the houses, watch all kinds of craftsmen at work and also buy their work.
