Geysir is a tourist attraction in the IcelandicSouth Country.
Info
The word geyser owes its name to the specimen Geysir, in the southwestern part of Iceland. Derived from the Icelandic verb að gjósa (spraying) this is the name giver to all geysers worldwide.
Geysir itself no longer sprays, but the adjacent geyser Strokkur does spray. This geyser erupts every five minutes, producing a steaming jet of water that can often be more than 20 meters high. Strokkur is currently the only geyser in Iceland that actually works.
