  • 3 Watchtower (Гимринская_башня). 24/7. Reconstruction of a historic watchtower dated 1832, which played an important role in the history of Dagestan as well as Chechnya as a defensive stronghold where Imam Shamil repelled Georgian invaders. Shelled by Russian artillery in the early 20th century, not much of the original tower survived and in 1997 a replica was built on the same site. The interior is now empty, but has a staircase that allows it to be climbed to the observation deck on the top level, which gives a wonderful view over the area. There is a memorial plaque at the base in Russian and Avar, reading "Imam Shamil landed here after descending from the sakli on the day of death of the first imam of Dagestan and Chechnya, Gazi-Magomed.".
