Han caves - Grotten von Han

The Han caves are a system of stalactite caves in Belgium in the province Namur.

The grottos consist of a series of widely branched caves with a total length of 10 km. Of this, 3 km are accessible to tourists. Highlights include the 5 m high and 12,000 year old stalagmite "The Minaret" and the 7 m high stalagmite "The Trophy".

The closest train station is Jemelle on the Brussels-Luxembourg railway line. From there, the bus continues to Han-sur-Lesse. The bus stops right at the information center.

sightseeing

The tour takes about 2 hours. A small train leaves the information center and takes visitors to the entrance to the caves. Then the tour begins on foot. A light and sound show is offered in the 60 m high "Waffensaal" on the underground bank of the Lesse. The exit from the grotto is by boat. It only takes a few minutes to walk back to the information center from the exit. Guided tours are only available in French or Dutch. For opening times and prices, see here on the Cave side

Practical advice

Photography is allowed in the grotto, but only without flash.

The grottoes include a Game reserve and a Prehistoric Museum. Combined tickets are available at the information center in Han.
