Guetaria - Guetaria

Getaria (in Basque and officially: Getaria) is a small fishing village of the Basque Country, on the coast between Zarauz to the east and Zumaia to West. The town is surrounded by a rocky environment known as The mouse. It has a beautiful port, an interesting church and several restaurants and bars that serve excellent fish and seafood. It is the birthplace of Juan Sebastián Elcano, who was the first western person to go around the world, completing the path started by Magellan.

By car

Getaria is located on the N634 coastal road between Zumaia and Zarautz. There are two pay car parks: one in the west area, coming from Zumaia, the other near the fishing port on Calle de Portua. Both are free after 20:00. There is a free car park that can be reached by taking the first street on the left as you enter the city center, and following Calle de Sahatsaga uphill.
