background
The small town has about 10,000 inhabitants and is located on Kızılırmak. The city logo shows a mushroom-shaped tufa formation, which is 7 km outside. Hittite finds point to a foundation in the 2nd millennium BC. Under Roman rule the place was called Zoropassos, later dan Arabsun, and was renamed Gülşehir under Turkish direction.
