The Haute Randonnée Pyrénéenne is a high mountain hiking trail that runs from Hendaye on the Atlantic across the Pyrenees to the Mediterranean. Even if it includes some easier stretches, the path can still be described as difficult. As I said, it is a high mountain hiking trail.
background
preparation
Since the beginning (Basque Country) and the end (Languedoc) do not really belong to the high mountains and the snow cover disappears earlier, it is possible to start the path from the beginning to mid-June. In general, however, it is sufficient to start at the beginning of July, so that after about six weeks of walking you should have completed the HRP by the end of August.
