The Schrofenpass right at the beginning of the Heckmair route
The "Heckmair Route" describes the first route taken by a mountain biker to completely cross the Alps. In 1989, the Allgäu mountain guide Andi Heckmair rode his mountain bike from Oberstdorf to Lake Garda in just under a week. The Heckmair route leads, among other things, over the Schrofenpass, the Chachaunapass, the Gavia Pass and the Tremalzo. The route at that time is quite rough compared to today's Transalp routes, as there are many carrying and pushing passages.
