The municipality of Herøy is primarily known for the island Runde, which is part of the municipality. The island is the breeding ground for hundreds of thousands of sea birds. The community is southwest of Ålesund. It includes the Sørøyane archipelago. - The Viking musical Kongen's ring, also Herøyspelet called, opens every year on the first weekend in July Herøya listed. The open-air theater Herøy amfi offers space for 1,200 spectators.
