  • Pavilion de Notelaer[1] This neoclassical pavilion on the Scheldedijk in Hingene was built between 1792 and 1797 by order of Duke Wolfgang-Guillaume d'ursel. The design was by the French court architect Charles de Wailly. Above the windows on the Scheldt side we see some beautifully executed reliefs that have large rivers as their theme. Inside is the octagonal salon à l'italienne a gem. Beautiful parquet floor, ceiling and wall paintings by Antoine Plateau and mirrors that reflect the light and the Scheldt. The pavilion was purchased by the Flemish Community in 1983.
