Inousses is an archipelago in the North Aegean Islands in Greece.
background
The Inousses are a group of islands, most of which are uninhabited. The largest island and the only place in the municipality have the same name. The Inousses are located in the sound, which is only 17 kilometers wide, between the Greek island of Chios and the Turkish mainland. About 750 to 800 inhabitants live permanently on Inousses, in the summer months the population increases significantly. The island is the residence of several important Greek shipowning families. It is considered to be one of the richest communities in Greece. It is a destination for people who want to escape mass tourism and who place more value on typical local life.
getting there
By plane
The nearest airport with connections to Athens is on Chios.
By boat
- Between Inousses and the city's port 17 kilometers southwest Chios a ferry runs regularly. Out of season it may be that you don't come and go from Chios on one day, but have to spend an overnight stay on the island.
- Day trips with excursion boats to Inousses are also offered from Chios.
mobility
Since the island is very small, you can walk almost everywhere, alternatively there is a taxi or you can take a moped on the ferry from Chios. Most of the paths outside the town are not paved and therefore unsuitable for rental cars.
