Isla del Coco is an island in the Pacific Ocean that belongs to the Republic of Costa Rica. The island was discovered in 1526 by Juan Cabezas, a Spanish navigator. The island, a National Park, is located 532 km off the Costa Rican coast. Its coordinates are 05 ° 31′N 87 ° 04′W / 5.517, -87.067. Its land area is 23.85 km² and measures 7.6 km long and 4.4 km wide. Its shape is approximately rectangular.
