Janków Zalesny - Janków Zaleśny

Janków Zalesny is a village of about 550 inhabitants, located in Greater Poland Voivodeship, in the western part Ostrów County and in the southwest Raszków commune.

Information

The first mention of the village dates back to 1246 - known as Iancovo - property of the archbishopric of Gniezno. From the second half of the 15th century, a royal village in the Odolanów starosty. A small river flows through the village Kuroch.

It is located about 15 km west of Ostrów Wielkopolski and is situated by the district road Raszków - Daniszyn.

Worth seeing

  • Eclectic St. Wojciech from 1905-1908, brick, neo-Romanesque, basilica on the plan of a Latin cross, from the east a stepped portico and a four-sided tower with a spire; the presbytery is closed in a semicircle, above the nave there is a turret with a bell. Inside there is a polychrome Wacław Taranczewski from 1945. There is a painting in the main altar Mother of God with the Child from the 17th century, a painting in the left altar St. Joseph from the 18th century.
  • In the neighbourhood Monument to Greater Poland Insurgents from 1932, destroyed by the Germans and rebuilt in 1948. In the nearby cemetery there is a tomb of 5 who died in the wars of 1919-21.
  • It is also worth paying attention to the school building from 1854, later expanded.
  • In the meadows between the church and the school, on the west bank of the river Kuroch is located settlement conical with a diameter of about 25 meters, active in the 14th-15th and 17th-18th centuries. Second in the forest 4 km east of the village settlement with a circumference of 190 meters and embankments up to 3 meters high.
