Jasov is a municipality in the Bodva Valley on the eastern edge of the Slovak Karst National Park about 20 km west of Košice in the Eastern Slovakia.

The im Slovak Ore Mountains Jasov lying on the ground should be expanded into a mining town in the Middle Ages, but in contrast to the town of Medzev located further up the river in the Bodva Valley, the project in Jasov was not promising. The place is today due to its peripheral location Slovak Karst National Park - the largest karst landscape in Central Europe - interesting. Characteristic of this landscape is a large number of very diverse caves, of which only four are accessible to visitors. That of Jasov was partially opened to the public in 1846, making it the oldest show cave in Slovakia. Since 1995 it has been protected by UNESCO as a world natural heritage site.

The international airport of Košice is only about 20 km away from Jasov.
By train
As long as the railway line to Medzev remains closed, the nearest railway station is in Moldava nad Bodvou (almost 10 km south), but from there there are no public connections to Jasov. It is therefore advisable to go to by train Košice to arrive and change to the bus there.
By bus
From the bus station in Košice in about 30 minutes with buses in the direction of Medzev and Štós.

- Premonstratensian Abbey of Jasov
The monastery, which was founded by the Premonstratensian order around 1170 and was not re-established until 1990 after a very eventful history, is located on the western edge of Jasov. Century. It is the largest monastery complex in Slovakia and one of the most important baroque buildings in the country. The interior of the monastery church consecrated to St. John the Baptist is also baroque. The monastery has an extensive library and a baroque garden. As the monastery complex is undergoing ongoing renovation work, a tour and visit to the library are only possible after prior telephone appointment.

The enchanting cave on the southern edge of Jasov is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Association "Caves of the Slovak and Aggtelek Karst". The cave was created in the limestone and dolomite rock by the activity of the Bodva River. On its current bank, at the foot of a cliff, there is a modern, year-round visitor center with information boards. An attached shop sells information material and small refreshments. From the visitor center 45-minute guided tours are offered several times a day, except Monday, from April to October. 550 m of the 2.8 km long cave are accessible to visitors. Although there are no extreme conditions, the low temperature (approx. 9 ° C) and the high humidity should be taken into account when planning a visit. The highlight of the tour is the "Great Cathedral", a hall-shaped widening with a rich decoration of diverse, partly pagoda-shaped stalactites Furthermore, remains of the prehistoric fauna and old inscriptions on the cave walls can be seen on the tour hen.
The rock above the cave (Jasovská scale), which offers a panoramic view of the monastery and the surrounding area of Jasov. On this path there are also remains of medieval fortress walls and a romantic forest cemetery belonging to the monastery.
