Kastelorizo ​​and its Italian name, Castello Rosso, owes the island to the red castle. Although this is the smallest inhabited island of the Dodecanese with 9 km², the Greek name megisti, which means largest. However, in the immediate vicinity are a number of smaller islands, which makes this island a giant among the dwarfs. The island is somewhat secluded a bit to the east, below the Turkish coast.
