The nature of the Caucasus is very diverse. Here it originally combines dry landscapes and humid subtropics. Such a vicinity of warm seas and icy mountains you will find very seldom. Due to the region's significant biodiversity, the Conservation International has designated it as a biodiversity hotspot. Phytogeographically, the Caucasus is a separate floristic province from the Circumferential Region of the Holarctic Kingdom. Many Caucasus mountain peaks are covered in eternal snow and ice. Some of them - Elbrus (5642 m), Dichtau (5205), Khahar (5068), Kazbek (5033) - rise above the height of Western European White Mountain.
