Khujand is the second largest city in the northern part of the country Tajikistan.

background

Earlier names of the place were Khojent (Ходжент) Leninabad (Ленинабад) from 1939 to 1992. The one before Chkalovsk called suburb is called today Gafurov.

getting there

By plane

The Khudjand International Airport (IATA: LBD), is international in that there are flights to Bishkek and to Russian provincial cities. Taxi to / from airport 30 TJS.

By train

From the train station in the suburb Gafurov (e.g. Marshrut 105, 2 TJS) there is a direct connection to Moscow once a week (journey time more than four days, different transit visas may be required). There is no inner-Tajik passenger traffic, as the geography does not allow a direct rail connection to Dushanbe.

In the street

To Dushanbe can be reached by shared taxi (100 TJS p.p.). Departure is from the central bus station (Avtovokzal). From October to April it is advisable to ensure that vehicles suitable for snow (all-wheel drive!) Are used. Many of the older Opel Astra / Vectra models used only have summer tires and front-wheel drive, which makes them completely unsuitable for the mountain passes in winter and does not seem to be accessible to the drivers. There has been a well-developed road to Dushanbe since the end of 2015. Two newly built tunnels make it possible to travel in winter too.

The nearby border crossings can be reached by Marshrutka from the bazaar (1 TJS).

Uzbekistan

The route to Kanibadam (Kanibodom) serves No. 328 (7 TJS). From the bus station there, you can take number 164 to the border, which was only open to pedestrians in 2014.

Kyrgyzstan

The route to Isfara is number 301.

Isfara-Kanibodom directly

Marshrutka 372 runs directly between the two border towns.

mobility

Marshrutka (1 TJS) and taxis (max. 10 TJS in urban areas).
