Characteristic
Kiel is situated on the Bay of Kiel in the southwestern part of the Baltic Sea. It is one of the largest ports in the Baltic Sea and one of the largest in Germany. Below Kiel is the entrance to the Kiel Canal, which connects the Baltic Sea (Bay of Kiel) with the North Sea (at the mouth of the Elbe).
