Church Village - Kościelna Wieś

Church Village is a large village of about 2,800 inhabitants, situated in the southern part Greater Poland Voivodeship, in the southeast Pleszew poviat and municipalities Gołuchów. The town is located about 6 kilometers west of Kalisz, on the national road no.12 connecting Poznan and Łódź. Very picturesquely located, near the west bank of the river valley Prosperouswhich is also its eastern border, and runs perpendicularly to it, deeply cut into the surrounding area Struga valley- a small left tributary of the river.

Kościelna Wieś is one of the oldest towns in the voivodeship. The first mention of it comes from 1124, when the governor of Silesia and the administrator of the land of Kalisz and Kujawy Piotr Włast-Dunin, advisor Bolesław KrzywoustyComing back from Kalisz from a war expedition, he stopped on the high escarpment of the Prosna valley. Delighted stretching all the way to the city on Fail with a panorama, he decided to found a church in this place. A monastery was also built next to the church.
