Ko Pha Ngan (เกาะ พะ ง้ น, pronounced KOH pa-nGan with the mango "gu") is an island in the southeast of Thailand, part of the Samui archipelago, located halfway between the island of Ko Samui and of Ko Tao.

Weather
There are 2 dominant seasons on the island, the dry season and the rainy season, the first starting in March and ending in July. The second begins in October and ends at the end of December. Whatever the guides say, the rainy season is an alternation of small rains. It is rare (but not impossible) for a rain to last more than half a day. The weather alternates during this period, and the tendency is rather one or two small rains per day. In recent years almost no rain has been recorded during the month of October.The best times to visit the island are from January to March (before the heat and very low tides) and from mid-July to mid-October (before the first drops).
Cities
The locations below are listed clockwise from Thong Sala:
- Thong Sala – Main village of the island. It is the point of connection with the continent. Most ferries dock there. It is the Thai side of the island.
- Ao Nai Wok – Also known as Baan Manali Beach due to the hotel of the same name located above, Nai Wok is a large lagoon protected by a long white sandbank. It is the first bay after the village of Thongsala, from the north (7 min on foot), and one of the best spots for sailing, windsurfing, or kayaking, due to its orientation in relation to the wind throughout the year and its proximity to the two small wild islands Ko Tae Nai and Ko Tae Nok (approx. 10 min by kayak or paddle board for the closest).
- Haad yao —
- Chaloklum - Fishing village, not yet too distorted, charming bay, surfing possible in December.
- Haad rin —
- Ban Tai - village located between Thongsala and Haad Rin. Long beach facing Samui.

By plane
The nearest airport is Ko Samui (USM) with regular flights from Bangkok, Phuket, U-Tapao and Singapore. From the airport you can easily book your ferry tickets to travel to Koh Phangan.
On a boat
From Ko Samui: There are 4 companies that serve Koh Phangan. From Bang Rak port with Seatran ferry, from Mae haad and Nathon with Lomprayah ferry, from Nathon with Songserm ferry and from Big Buddha with Haad Rin Queen ferry. The first boat leaves at 8 h from Ban Rak and the last one at {{time | 18 | 30]] from Big Buddha. The price varies from 200 to 300 bath depending on the company. Journey time of 30 to 45 min depending on the company.Beware of the exorbitant price of taxis on Samui. Prefer the airport shuttles if you arrive by plane.
From Ko Tao: about 1 h 30 with Seatran and Lomprayah Ferry.
From Surat Thani: "coconut boat" night boat departure to 23 h arrival towards 6 h, or car ferry from Donsak (1 h from Suratthani) with Raja ferry.
By bus
From Bangkok and its bus station to the South (Sai Tai Mai). government bus 999 Vip 32 seats. dep 19.50 arr. 11 h with the ferry, around 1000 baht.

- Stroll from Haad Khom to Bottle Beach with an impressive viewpoint above Bottle Beach (2 h). from Haad Rin to Haad Tien, nice viewpoint on Haad Yuan and Haad Tien (2 h) or the highest peak of Kao Ra Island starting after Phaeng Waterfall. (2 h)
- Water sport Rental or lesson of sailing, windsurfing, or SUP (paddle board). only available at 2 locations, Sl2k Adventure located at Baan Manali Resort in Ao Nai Wok bay or "Cookie Salad" at "Haad Salad". Kitesurf, in the lagoon of Bantai with KBA or One2Kite.
