One of its branches, which took over Kobylniki, adopted the name Kobylnicki already in the 14th century. Successive owners from the beginning of the 17th century were the Kąsinowski family of the Nałęcz coat of arms, and from around 1760 the Obażantowski family. At the beginning of the 19th century, Kobylniki was purchased by Dobrogost Skrzypna-Twardowski of the Ogończyk coat of arms. Kobylniki remained in the hands of the Twardowski family until World War II. Dobrogost's son, Teodor, founded in 1859 ordination.

Worth seeing

The palace was erected by Zygmunt Gorgolewski for Tadeusz Twardowski, the second entailer (son of Teodor) in 1886. The palace was given a neo-gothic and partly neo-renaissance character. Two-storey, bristling with towers, turrets and high chimneys, today gives the impression of a fabulous residence. The facades shine with glazed bricks and are illuminated by sandstone and light plaster finishes. The steep roof with numerous vertical accents - pinnacles, tops of facades and avant-corps gives the building a stately character, although in the assumptions of its originator it was a "modest house". Feel wealth. And it was possible thanks to modesty and diligence, somewhat understood in a princely way, which were reflected in the motto: "Happiness at work". Successive generations of the family of the owners multiplied the family goods and the Twardowski family bought nearby farms and invested in works of art for the palace in Kobylniki.

The streak did not leave the palace and throughout the subsequent wars. After World War II, it did not share the fate of many noble residences and did not become a decaying warehouse for fertilizers. A hotel was built in the nationalized palace, and its administrators took care of the house of the owners as if they were their own. Thanks to this, today you can enjoy the beautiful interiors, preserved monuments and - most importantly - the wonderful atmosphere of the former residence from the times when modesty was understood a bit more extravagantly! and two medals "for merits in the protection and care of historic garden arrangements".

In front of the palace there is a large courtyard with a driveway.

In the ground floor of the round tower, from the side of the driveway, there is a plaque with the coat of arms of the Twardowski family and the date of construction. The original stucco and fireplaces have been preserved in the interiors. There is a park of several hectares around the palace.

Nearby, there is a small neo-Gothic chapel with a turret, probably also designed by Zygmunt Gorgolewski. On the left bank of the river Samy a small cemetery with the graves of the Twardowski family.
