Koh Lipe is an island of Southern Thailand.

Understand

Koh Lipe is a small island in the southern part of the Andaman Sea in Thailand. It is located in the province of Satun, near the island of Langkawi (Malaysia), about 60 kilometers (38 miles) from the coast. It is part of Tarutao Marine National Park, a large group of over 70 islands, as well as part of a small group of islands called the Butang Islands or Adang Archipelago.Koh Lipe is famous for diving and snorkeling and for the beautiful beaches and the relaxed atmosphere.

Today, tourism tends to become mass tourism, with what this implies in terms of construction and tourism projects. There are indeed many scuba diving sites on Koh Lipe and therefore many dive shops and resorts that organize boat trips.

Koh Lipe is located outside the jurisdiction of Tarutao National Park, and as such, is exempt from the laws and legislation that protects the rest of the national park. The island is growing rapidly to meet the demands of tourism, and faces a number of issues such as the protection of wild animals and the treatment of garbage. There are plans currently in place to keep Koh Lipe clean.

To go

The island is only accessible by ferry from Pak Bara and Pulau Langkawi with varying schedules depending on the season. There is no pier on Koh Lipe, the ferry anchors near the beaches and you have to reach the coast on foot or by long-tail boat. On the island, there are no cars and the only modes of transport are walking and motorbike taxi. As the island is small, it is possible to walk around it in just over an hour.

Lipe has cybercafés as well as WIFI terminals in some places. The mobile phone has been working correctly for a few years. No 3G at the moment.
