hike
The mountains of Corsica are a good hiking area and reach up to 2700 m.
- The 1 Monte San Petroni is the highest mountain in Castanicca and offers views over the mountainous landscape to the sea.
- The mountain range that the Tartagine Valley limited to the north, suffices with the 2 Monte Grosso still up to 1900 meters and offers a beautiful view of the Balagne up to sea. In addition to the above, the smaller one also offers beautiful views 3 Mont Tolo .
- The 4 Mont Cinto is the highest mountain in Corsica at 2,706 meters. The ascent is shortest from Haut-Asco im Asco valley. From the summit you look over several mountain ranges to the sea and see Calvi.
- The Scala di Santa Regina is a gorge at the entrance to the Niolo. On the upper half there is a hiking trail, the starting point of which Corscia is.
- The 1 Lac de Nino is the source of the Tavignano and is located in a meadow and swamp area in the middle of the mountains. You can start the hike there in Niolo, longer you go from the Restonica valley or from Corte.
- The Restonica valley is a popular destination from Corte. From the hiking car park you can take the hike to the 2 Lac de Mélo and on to 3 Lac de Capilello start, both lakes beautifully embedded in the rocky mountain landscape.
- The 5 Mont d‘Oro At almost 2400 meters, it is the third highest mountain on the island and the highest one can climb without high alpine experience. From the summit there is a beautiful view of the mountains.
Long-distance hiking trails
The most famous, but also the most demanding of the Corsican long-distance hiking trails is likely to be the GR 20 be. It crosses the Corsican mountains in a north-south direction. On his way he crosses the Mare a Mare North, which connects the west and east coast.
Swimming
You can also swim in the mountains: there are many bathing pools in rivers, but - coming straight from the mountains - they are quite cold.
- Below the small waterfall 4 Cascade d‘Anglais at Vizzavona you can swim.
- Between two rocks spanned by the Genoese built 5 Pont d‘Asco below the village of the same name, the stream of the same name, in which you can swim between high cliffs.
Winter sports
There are also ski resorts in Corsica. In the northern part of the interior of the island there are two pieces:
- 1 Haut-Asco ski area - At the very back of the Asco Valley there is a ski lift and several people movers as well as blue and green (in Germany, Austria and the Switzerland not usual level of difficulty, even easier than blue) slopes.
- 2 Col de Verghio ski area - Below this pass at the rear end of the Niolo there are several ski lifts
Both of these ski areas are not really worth the long journey and are only worthwhile for travelers who are here for another reason. The ski tours that you can do are more demanding, but also more dangerous.
