The city Kos is on it island of Kos in Greece. The island of the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates, who wrote down the therapies known at the time and established the first guidelines for medical action with the institution of the oath named after him.

  • Mandraki, the harbor.
  • Castle of the Knights Hospitaller dominates the east side of the harbor, or Mandraki, built in the fifteenth century.
  • Plane Tree of Hippocrates, stands between the castle and the Angora. Hippocrates is said to have lectured here in the shade of a plane tree. The tree there is "only" five hundred years old, but the idea is there.
  • Remains of the ancient city of Kos. Because the modern city of Kos was built on the same site, archaeological excavations have been done in several places in the city.
    • Angora, the old market, Roman Forum. the trade center of the ancient city. Remnants of Greek and Roman buildings and temples.
    • Casa Romana Roman patrician house with mosaics.
    • Odeon, antique theatre.
  • Archaeological Museum with finds from the island, including the Asklepion the temple dedicated to Asclepius, the god of medicine.
