  • palace complex - the palace was built after 1875. Two old buildings were rebuilt, connecting them with a huge orangery, in which Józef Tyszkiewicz arranged a winter garden famous all over Europe with ponds, a waterfall, caves (one of them could feast for 100 people) and rare plants. After World War I, it was partially destroyed. The main body and the orangery have survived to the present day. In 1940, it was turned into a casino. A forced labor camp was opened in the vicinity of Kretynga in mid-June 1937 [1]. After World War II, there was an agricultural school in the palace and a sports hall in the orangery. After a general renovation, since 1992, the palace houses the local history museum (the history of Samogitia) and the conservatory is a winter garden. The palace is surrounded by a regular and landscape park, the best preserved of the area. 13 ha. There are 2 ponds in the park, formed by the damming of the Okmiana River. Once upon a time, the park had an area of 300 ha. There are oaks in it from the times of Chodkiewicz.
  • Catholic post-Bernardine church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kretynga with the monastery founded in 1610 by Karol Chodkiewicz as a votive offering for the victory in the Battle of Kircholm, renovated in 1710 by Kazimierz Sapieha. The interior is modest, but the furnishings are very valuable. Metal coffins of the Chodkiewiczs in the crypt.
  • monastery building - the existing Bernardine monastery was closed by the tsarist authorities at the beginning of the Nineteenth century, turning it into a prison for priests unfavorable to the authorities. In 1912, the buildings were given to the Franciscans, who extended it and added the building of the gymnasium. After World War II, the monastery was closed, and after its renovation in 1977, a local history museum was opened there. In 1992, the buildings were handed over to the church authorities.
