Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus - Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) TurkeyIt is a republic located in the south of Cyprus, in the north of the island of Cyprus, which is an island in the Mediterranean.

understand

The Republic of Cyprus declared its independence from the United Kingdom in 1960. The constitution proclaimed by the United Nations gave equal rights to Turks and Greeks on the island. However, the atmosphere of peace did not last long and EOKA gangs began to attack the Turks. In 1974, Turkey carried out the Cyprus Peace Operation and the Turkish Cypriot Federated State was established. This state left its place to the TRNC in 1983. The United Nations Peacekeeping Force still operates on the island. The border separating the country from Southern Cyprus is called the Green Line. Turkish citizens cannot cross this border.

Districts

In the TRNC, the highest administrative unit is called a district, not a province, and as of 2017, the country has six districts.

Transport

There are two airports in the country that are used effectively. One of them is Ercan International Airport in the capital and the other is Geçitkale Airport in Famagusta. You can reach Ercan from Istanbul, Sabiha Gökçen, Esenboğa, Antalya, Gaziantep, Şakirpaşa, Adnan Menderes and Ordu-Giresun airports. Due to the embargo applied to the TRNC, there are no flights from outside Turkey.
