Königstein im Taunus is a city in Vordertaunus not far from the mountain peaks Altkönig and Great Feldberg, 25 km from Frankfurt am Main away. The climatic health resort became popular with wealthy Frankfurt families as early as the middle of the 19th century when Duke Adolph von Nassau decided to build his summer residence here. The most impressive testimonies of this era, the Villa Borgnis in the spa gardens (restaurant), the Villa Rotschild (restaurant), as well as the Villa Andrae (private) on the hill opposite the castle can be easily explored on foot. Also worth seeing are the Art Nouveau villas on the splendid Altkönigstrasse.
