Altitude above sea level reaches 133 m. Administratively, the island belongs to the Sicilian commune of Lampedusa e Linosa in province of Agrigento.
Geography
The highest point of the island is Monte Albero del Sole (133 m above sea level). Since 2002, the island belongs to the protection area Area Marina Protetta "Isole pelagie". Loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) lay their eggs on the island of Isola dei Conigli (Rabbit Island) nearby. Small staples (Caralluma europaea) and yellow-violet-blooming asters (Reichardia tingitana) grow in the cracks in the rocks and on the dunes.
